Rennie Takes the Bagpipe Classic in Record TimePublished by
Erindale's Braydon Rennie started off the season with a first place finish today in the 5th Annual St. Marcellinus Bagpipe Classic at Erindale Park in Mississauga. Rennie finished the 6km course in 20:09 breaking the course record of 20:14 set last year by Ben Preisner of Bishop Reding. Rennie and ROPSSAA rival Sergio Raez-Villanueva (John Cabot SS) battled it out for the whole race trading the lead back and forth several times. It was an exciting race right to the end resulting in a dead heat. Amazingly both athletes crossed the line with their timing chips at exactly the same time - it was a stunning photo finish. Watch for this battle to heat up in the weeks leading up to the ROPSSAA Championships slated for October 25th at Heart Lake Conservation Area in Brampton. |
